 To make this image first I had to get rid of the water mark on both images, then masks allowed me to place the pattern on the on the window. Adding a light effect gave the pattern an old look.  Then applying a mask to the window allowed me to place another image behind, creating a whole new picture.

To make this image I got rid of the sky on the lake house image. Then I positioned the map of Maine where it suited me best. Different filter were tried and but I like this one. After I created to separate rectangles and a circle with gradients.

 

Christmas Tree!

This image was made in Adobe Illustrator. This image was made with basic shapes and tools, along with gradients. When making this image  I removed the outline on the big tree so it wouldn't look so cartoony, as appose to the small trees which look more animated.

 

 

 

Paris!

These images were created by using makes and then blending them using the gradient tool. Once the first image was created I saved it as a jped, and then reopened it. I added the word "Paris" and placed the layer between a copy of the mixed imaged and the original to make a sandwich. Then the copy was turned into a clipping mask, which allowed me to cut out the letters. Adding a bevel and drop shadow allowed for the words to appear pushed out.  On the last image I simply hid the bottom layer, created a new one and added a gradient.

Kumquat Cream Pie Recipe

To make this recipe I had to select the kumquats from another image and then duplicated the image. The copy of the kumquats then served as  the shadow, I simply locked the image and painted it with a grey, adding a blur completed the shadow. As for the tittle, a simple warp gave it some flow.

 

Balloons!

Making this image was fun, although trying to get the word "balloons" to have a gradient was difficult. I also used circle gradients to add some fun on the outside border.

PART 1: READ Chapter 2 in the GIMP book, then:

1.      What is the purpose of the DODGE tool (part of the DODGE/BURN tool) : The purpose of the Dodge tool is to allow the user to choose between three modes: shadows, midtones, and Highlights. This will make dark areas light.

2.      What is the purpose of the BURN tool (part of the DODGE/BURN tool): This tool does the opposite of the dodge tool, it makes light areas darker.

3.      Why is the DODGE/BURN tool considered a drawing tool?: The dodge/burn tool is considered a drawing tool because is uses a brush.

4.      What is the purpose of the SMUDGE tool?: The smudge tool picks up color and then distributes that color to other parts of the image.

5.      Briefly explain you get the CLONE to work: The clone tool lets you duplicate a small area over and over to paint an object out of a picture.

6.      What is the purpose of the HEAL tool?: The heal tool is similar to the Clone tool, but this tool combines the texture from the source with a color and lighting of the destination layer.

7.      What is the purpose of the PERSPECTIVE CLONE tool?: The perspective clone tool is like the clone tool except that whatever you clone will be modified appropriately based on the perspective you’ve set.

8.      Briefly explain the two purposes of the CONVOLVE tool: This is a blur/sharpen tool lets you change small regions of an image just by dragging over them. The more you go over an area the more it will blur or sharpen.

9.      What is the purpose of the GAUSSIAN BLUR filter? (NOTE: This is a FILTER, not a TOOL). It blurs the area that is selected.

10.  Which tool would be the appropriate tool to get rid of wrinkles on someone’s face? A clone tool
